Everything you need to know about CLAT Eligibility Criteria

Common Law Admission Test, or CLAT, is a single test for people who want to get into 5 year Integrated LLB and LLM programmes. Consortium of NLU's runs CLAT every year on a rotating schedule so that students can get into UG and PG programmes at different law universities and colleges in India.


Intermediate students with 45% marks and graduate students with 55% marks can take the CLAT entrance exam for LLB and LLM programmes. If you don't meet the CLAT Eligibility Criteria at any point in the selection process, your candidacy will be dropped.


According to the latest CLAT eligibility criteria, both Indian and NRI students can apply for the CLAT exam and get into the Five Year Integrated (LLB + LLM) and Three Year LLB Courses at various National Law Universities (NLUs) in India. CLAT eligibility for five-year integrated courses (LLB and LLM)

CLAT Eligibility: Academic Qualification

In the 12th grade or an equivalent test, they must have gotten:

  • For Unreserved, OBC, Specially Abled Persons (SAP), and other categories, you must get at least 45%.

  • For the SC/ST category, you must get at least 40%.

CLAT Age Limit Eligibility Criteria for Ug Course (LLB)

No one over the age of 25 can take the CLAT.

Note:

  • CLAT is also open to people who are taking their Class 12 exams at the same time as CLAT. At the time of admission, these people must show proof that they passed their Class 12 exam. Candidates who don't do this won't be able to get into college through CLAT.

  • If everyone has the same number of points, the following rules apply:

  • I Higher scores on the CLAT's legal aptitude section (ii) Older age (iii) A computerised draw of lots

How to Get into a PG Course with CLAT (LLM)

CLAT Eligibility: Academic Qualification:-

Law students who want to take the CLAT LLM Program should have gotten at least a certain percentage on their qualifying exam (i.e. LL.B., 5-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons. ), or any other exam with the same level of difficulty). The marks are different for each type of candidate.

  • For Unreserved, Other Backward Classes, Specially Abled Persons (SAP), and other categories, you need at least 55% marks.

  • For the SC/ST category, you must get at least 50% of the marks.

  • At the time of admission, he or she must have passed or taken the qualifying exam for the last semester or year.

  • Send the final result of the qualifying exam within the time limit set by the University or Institute. Until then, these people are admitted on a provisional basis.

CLAT's age limit and the requirements to get into a PG course (LLM)

No one over the age of 25 can take the CLAT.

Note:

  • If everyone has the same number of points, the following rules apply:

  • If the age difference is still the same, a computer will be used to pick a winner.

Eligibility for CLAT for NRI

Even if they are in their last year of college, candidates can still apply for CLAT. But they have to show proof that they passed the final exam and got their diploma when they go through the admissions process.

  • Under the NRI Quota, seats are given to people in the NRI/NRI Sponsored category.

  • Admissions are not handled by the CLAT office. Instead, the universities make their own decisions based on CLAT scores.

  • Foreigners who want to take any course at one of the participating Law Universities can contact the University directly if there are seats available for foreigners.
